Washington Sq Park “Official” Opening Ceremony Thursday, May 28th 1:30 p.m. At the Fountain

Oh my… The moment we’ve all been waiting for… (Well, maybe just me…? but still…) Do you think Mayor Bloomberg will show up?

From NY City Council Member Alan Gerson:

DEAR NEIGHBOR:

Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe, Council Speaker Christine Quinn and I cordially invite you to join us and other folks in the area to celebrate the opening of Washington Square Park and the completion of Phase I of the renovation. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, May 28th at 1:30 pm at the fountain.

Very truly yours,
Alan J. Gerson
Council Member, District 1

Like above Alan J Gerson stood with several leading environmental activists and welfare programs for children, senior citizens, WTC reforms, Cultural, Housing activities in his service till now.
A short list of those can be found from here: http://www.gerson2009.com/main.cfm?actionId=globalShowStaticContent&screenKey=cmpContent&htmlKey=issues&s=gerson
To continue his efforts, do vote for him for Dist 1 council election 15th Sept 2009

  2. I don’t agree with some of the recent comments in support of Alan Gerson that have been posted here. While I’m sure he’s done some good things, his wishy washy-ness on Washington Square Park, not coming out early on the health problems around downtown post-9/11 and supporting overhauling term limits are problematic enough. The Downtown Express had a pretty decent Editorial recently explaining the problems with Council Member Gerson. You can read it here: http://www.downtownexpress.com/de_332/editorialendorsments.html I don’t know enough about Margaret Chin to say whether I agree with their comments about and support of her.
